Hobgoblins are relatives of goblins, but are bigger and meaner. They live underground but often hunt outdoors (having no penalties in daylight). A hobgoblin king and 1-4 bodyguards live in the hobgoblin lair. The king has 22 hit points and fights as a 5 Hit Dice monster, gaining a bonus of +5 on damage rolls. The bodyguards all fight as 4 Hit Dice monsters and have 3d6 hit points each. As long as their king is alive and with them, hobgoblin morale is +12 rather than +10.
